The Motorman must have a mechanical mind and the ability to troubleshoot, identify and repair minor problems that arise. They are responsible for checking various fluids and pressure gauges, and recording their findings in the daily engine report during their tour. "Maintaining Motors" - Must apply the proper fluids, coolants, and oils to all engines and motors. The Motorman will also check gauges, fluid levels, lubricants and report any problems to their immediate supervisor. "Handling Tongs" - While tripping or making a connection, the floor hand (Lead Tong Hand) must lift or move tongs when making a connection. This activity will include lifting the tongs and lateral movement of the tongs to attach them to the drill pipe. The tongs are on counterweights and the exertion to maneuver them will vary from 10-30 pounds. the lifting range, up or down is 1-2 feet in the area of the waist. This activity is repeated and could be performed as many as 175 times in a 12 hour shift. "Pulling the Slips" - This activity is preformed by 2 or 3聽workers and could be conducted as many as 175 times per 12 hour shift. The slips weigh between 100 and 175 pounds and the weight would be distributed between the 2 or 3 employees. The slips are located at floor level and would be lifted at a distance of 18-24 inches. "Stacking Pipe" - Involves manually pushing a suspended length of pipe to the area where the pipe is stacked during a drill pipe trip. The reverse activity involves restraining the suspended pipe and guiding it across the rig floor. This activity is performed in the standing position and could be performed as many times as 100 times per 12 hour shift. "Handling the drill string" This operation involves removing all pipe from the will bore and stacking it in the derrick. This operation will also include Tripping into Hole or Tripping out of Hole and making connections during operations. The tripping operations vary depending on the depth of the well and other factors. Employees may be involved in the tripping operation for the full 12 hours of their work shift. At times it is necessary for the聽Motorman to climb up the derrick and assist the Derrick Man in hanging the belly board or drilling up or drilling down. They must also be able to go up and grease the traveling blocks and bridle line sheaves. All employees working together must keep the rig clean, picked up and free of safety hazards. It is necessary that every one be mentally alert an physically fit during their shift. Requirements 聽 Knowledge of related tools and equipment and their specific functions. The branch service manager oversees the maintenance supervisor and/or technicians to assure the location aligns business objectives and customers demands. 聽 Major Responsibilities: -Manage preventative maintenance scheduling, quality, and customer satisfaction -Listen to and resolve customer complaints regarding services, products, or personnel -Hire, train, and evaluate personnel -Assure that each direct report understands the company objectives -Confer with company officials to develop methods and procedures to increase sales, expand markets, and promote business -Direct and supervise associates engaged in sales, inventory-taking, reconciling cash receipts, or performing specific services, such as pumping gasoline for customers -Provide staff with assistance in performing difficult or complicated duties -Plan and prepare work schedules, and assign associates to specific duties -Attend company meetings to exchange product information and coordinate work activities with other departments -Prepare sales and inventory reports for management and budget departments -Formulate pricing policies according to profitability requirements -Other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor聽 Qualifications -At least 3 years of previous work experience in diesel shop maintenance required -At least 1 years of supervisory experience required -Associates Degree (business or technical) or Vo-Tech Graduate required -In-depth knowledge of all vehicle components including: engine, drive train, air-brakes, cooling systems, electrical systems, accessories, suspension, and tires required -Brake/air brake certification, diesel certification, EPA 608/609 certification, and HVAC certification required. -Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, and Powerpoint required -Strong written/oral communication and people management skills required -Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening are required -The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
